​We are honored to welcome you to the Resiliency Rising Scholarship Foundation. This scholarship foundation was created in honor of Douglas John Kantor, a remarkable young man whose journey was tragically cut short. This scholarship exists to carry forward Doug’s legacy by supporting students who, like him, are determined to make a meaningful difference in their communities and the world. It is our hope that every recipient not only remembers Doug’s story but also feels empowered to continue it through hard work, heart, and a relentless pursuit of their dreams.

It is our firm belief that education is the cornerstone of human society. It is how we grow into better versions of ourselves and secure a stronger future for our children and the continued success of our nation. When we are able to communicate openly and engage in truly intellectual free speech within our educational institutions—especially about our history and past mistakes as a society—we give ourselves the opportunity to learn, grow, and improve. Without honest dialogue and critical examination of the past, we risk repeating those same mistakes, potentially with even more devastating consequences.

 

Our beloved Doug lost his life during a time when our country is deeply divided over political ideologies that failed to produce practical solutions. While these ideologies are debated in Washington, young men and women like my brother are losing their lives on our streets. Policies such as defunding the police and radical bail reform, along with growing lawlessness, have had real and painful consequences for families like ours. History has shown that when public safety and accountability break down, communities suffer.

 

That is why we have chosen to direct our support toward education. We believe that by investing in the next generation of leaders and decision-makers, we can help foster open dialogue, logical thought, and a deep understanding of history. Our hope is that through education, future leaders will learn from the past rather than repeat it—and that no other family will have to endure the kind of loss that ours has experienced.
